On January 10, 2018, 19-year-old University of Pennsylvania sophomore Blaze Bernstein was found dead in a park in Orange County, California, eight days after having been reported missing. He was visiting his family in Lake Forest, California, when he was killed. He had been stabbed nineteen times. Two days later, Samuel Woodward, one of Bernstein's former high school classmates and a member of neo-Nazi terrorist group Atomwaffen Division, was arrested and charged with murdering Bernstein. As Bernstein was both openly gay and Jewish, authorities declared that Bernstein was a victim of a hate crime. Five deaths had links to the Atomwaffen Division over eight months from 2017 to early 2018.

Trial started April 9, 2024

On August 23, 1961, in Bedfordshire, a gunman murdered Michael Gregsten and left his mistress Valerie Storie for dead. James Hanratty was later hanged for the crime.

Summer was last seen at her home in the 100 block of Ben Hill Road in the Beech Creek area of Rogersville, Tennessee between 5:30 and about 6:30 p.m. on June 15, 2021.

Her older brothers said she went down into the basement to play, and they never saw her after that. She has never been heard from again; her family said she simply disappeared without anyone seeing or hearing anything out of the ordinary. An extensive search turned up no sign of her, although search dogs tracked her scent through the woods at the end of Ben Hill Road.

Eleven days after Summer disappeared, authorities asked the public for information about a truck that had been seen in the area in the later afternoon to early evening hours of June 14 and June 15. The truck is described as a red or maroon 1998 - 2000 Toyota Tacoma with a full-bed ladder rack and white buckets in the bed.

The vehicle, and its driver, have not been identified. Authorities stated the driver isn't a suspect, but they want to talk to the person and find out what they know and what they might have seen.

Summer's family was investigated for possible involvement in her disappearance. There have been domestic violence issues between her parents, Donald Wells and Candus Bly, and Donald has been arrested for domestic violence on multiple occasions. He stated he was at work when Summer disappeared, and that both he, Candus and Candus's mother had all passed polygraphs about Summer's disappearance.

For unclear reasons, Summer's three older brothers, aged between seven and twelve years old, were removed from the family home by the Tennessee Department of Children's Services about a month after Summer's disappearance. After their removal, police questioned them about the case. They've also interviewed people who had stayed at the home in the months prior to Summer's disappearance.

Authorities haven't named anybody as a suspect in Summer's case. Donald stated he believes his daughter was abducted by someone outside the family.

Summer's aunt, Rose Bly, disappeared from Wisconsin in 2009 and has never been found. The two cases are not thought to be related. Both remain unsolved.

On April 18, 2016, the body of fitness instructor Terri Leann "Missy" Bevers was found at Creekside Church of Christ in Midlothian, Texas.

Cheyann Klus was only 22 years when she disappeared over the Thanksgiving weekend. Later, it was recognized that she was in fact at her boyfriends residence in Chicago on December 2, 2017 and has never been seen or heard from again. Her boyfriend was questioned, and said that he was sleeping for 18 hours, and when he woke up, she was gone. Her best friend was the last one to actually speak on the weekend of Thanksgiving, and never got a response back from her. No one did.

Alissa Turney was an American 17-year-old girl who was last seen in the Phoenix, Arizona area on May 17, 2001.

19-year old Jay Slater, a British tourist disappeared from the Masca on the Spanish island of Tenerife on 17 June 2024. He had visited Masca overnight and at 8am he asked a stranger when the next bus to Los Cristianos was due and when told it was 10am, Slater walked off into the mountainous terrain some 20 miles (and potentially 11 hours walk) from his apartment where he was staying.

Claudia, 35, vanished between 18-19 March 2009 from York, England. She was a chef at the University of York and had not walked to her 6am shift. She left behind her unwashed breakfast dishes, passport, purse and handbag but her rucksack, mobile phone and chefs whites were missing.

On May 24, 2004, the body of Oakey Albert "Al" Kite, Jr. was discovered in the basement of his residence in Aurora, CO. Mr. Kite had been beaten and stabbed. Multiple items were taken from the scene including Mr. Kite's pickup truck.
